The drawings appear in “The Iron Road”, a graphic novel by Ira Eduardovna.

The graphic novel is a peek behind the scenes of the video work “The Iron Road”, shown at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art during 2023.
While drawing and writing daily, the artist returned to the journey and to the significant place in her life:

“During the last four years, I have been working on ‘The Iron Road’ – a project in which returned to the train journey that my family and I took from Uzbekistan to Russia in 1990, on our way out of the Soviet Union. This is probably the most significant journey made in my life “.

Ira Eduardovna was born in Uzbekistan and immigrated to Israel in 1990. Her works deal with memory, and immigration as a personal and collective experience.
Her video installations have been shown in museums and galleries in Israel and around the world. Her solo exhibitions include Tel Aviv Museum of Art (2023), the Israel Museum in Jerusalem (2018), Chelouche Gallery, Tel Aviv (2019), Loop Barcelona Art Fair (2018, 2022), Cuchifritos Gallery NYC (2017), 1708 Gallery, Richmond, VA (2015), Futura Center for Contemporary Art, Prague (2013) and more.
Awards include the Ministry of Culture Creative Encouragement Award (2022-2023), Gesher Fund for script development for a feature film, production fund – The new fund for cinema and TV, script development lab – The new fund for cinema and TV, Jerome Foundation research and travel grant, New York Foundation for The Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, Israel Lottery Council Grant for Culture and the Arts, Ostrovsky Family Fund, and more.
She participated in artist residencies such as Lower Manhattan Cultural Council NYC, Smack Mellon Brooklyn NY, Art Omi – International Art Center Ghent NY, FUTURA center for contemporary Art in Prague. She is currently an artist in residence at Artport Tel Aviv (2022-2023).
She holds an MFA from Hunter College, New York (2012), and BA in Education and Art – Tel Aviv University, Holon Academic institute of technology (2003)
