Assaf Rahat creates his work with unordinary techniques using twine, sewing threads, plastic glue, industrial masking-tape, ink and water colors. His choice of unconventional materials results in expressive, disturbing and full of emotion works of art.
Rahat’s oeuvres engage with the relationship between private space and mental space. His intimate descriptions of images from memory and introspection includes: domestic objects, faces, intimate scenes, sexuality and death.
Rahat builds a link with art history, this can be seen in works such as The Sacrificing Of Isaac in conversation with Caravaggio, or in his representations of the artist Raffi Lavi, his former teacher at the Academy, a Master for generations of artists in Israel.
Born 1970, Rahat is a graduate of the Midrasha School of Art, Beit Berl (1994-1998). He has exhibited at the Israel museum in Jerusalem and the Haifa museum of arts.
