Biography
Tal Shoshan (b. 1969), sculptor, performance artist,, drawer and researches in material, sculpts dysotopic spaces that bring together: human, nature and culture. In soft sculptural language, through working with textile materials and various textile practices alongside unique use of industrial materials she creates dark environments of destruction and memory, Where human remains are present and the various and disturbing manifestations of nature.
Shoshan, graduated with a master’s degree from Wimbledon collage of Art, London (1997) and a B.A. from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, in the Department of Jewelry and Clothing Accessories (1994). From 2014-2007, Shoshan headed the field of clothing and accessories in the design department at the Kibbutzim Seminar. Shoshan, winner of the Mifal HaPais grant for publishing an artist’s book (2017), winner of the Handler Prize (2014), has participated in many solo and group exhibitions in Israel and abroad, most notably, “Take Me Out of Here” (2021) Solo Exhibition at Petah Tikva Museum, , “Mud in the Eyes” (2015), “Knots in the Hair” (2014) “Savage Spirit” (2013) and “Dreaming of Journeys” (2010) at Gallery Chelouche of Contemporary Art, in Tel Aviv. The film from the exhibition “Dreaming of Journeys” was shown in several cities around the world as part of ART EXPO; The film “Phnom Penh City of Penn” (2007) was screened at the Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa and Rosh Pina Cinematheques, as well as at the Panorama Festival of Independent Cinema in Greece; “Empty Spaces” (2005) Herzliya Museum; “Public Space” (2003) at the Helena Rubinstein Pavilion, and “Mother Tongue” (2002) at the Ein Harod Museum.
