Exhibition Grant by Artis

Curated by Christian Viveros-Fauné

This exhibition raises questions about the culture of representation and continues the museum’s tradition of presenting challenging artwork with political and social content in Chile. People I Met is a series of images that show the lives of Palestinians in the occupied territories, captured over Miki Kratsman’s decades-long photography career working in Gaza and the West Bank. The images, which exist as cropped portraits on a Facebook page, are isolated from their original frame and context. The faces are uploaded with just the date, location and Kratsman’s simple question: “What happened to the people in the photographs?”

Miki Kratsman, people I met, Untitled (1), 2010-2017, digital print, 35X25 cm
