Congratulations for the purchase of a work by Assaf Rahat into Tel-Aviv Museum Collection

The work depicts a dream-hallucination scene that gives birth to monsters (as a reference to a Goya). The figure of the homeless, as the artist representation, twisted in the style of a cartoon characters of Le Greco with huge palms, larger than usual. The blue folds of the garment wrapping and binding all together in the scratched apocalyptic landscape, as a combination of Arie Aroch and Jheronimus Bosch (The iconic ‘Bus in the mountains’ series, as well as Pluto figure, the dog from Kibbutz Megiddo from the story of Leah Goldberg (‘Aya Pluto’).
It is a connection between the secular-Tel Aviv’ian-modernist and the mystical-religious, a connection that creates a hybrid creature as a forbidden painting of madness, secularism and religiosity, all mixed with modernist elements.
